Christmas Eve 2015

Christmas Eve 2015

Here it is, Christmas Eve 2015, and one of my daughters, her husband and two children are with us.  It is nice having them here to celebrate this wonderful holiday.

Jennifer helped me with a church assignment today.  I knew I couldn’t do it by myself, and Elizabethe asked if I was going to cancel.  I told her I was not because they were depending on my, while inside I was praying for help.  Help came in the form of one of my beautiful daughters being here to help.  This Christmas Eve 2015 this has been a wonderful gift.  When you trust in God, he provides.

While Jennifer was helping me, Elizabethe and the grandchildren were decorating the tree.  Elizabethe was worried about the decorations and I suggested to procrastinate until the grandchildren were here because it would be fun to decorate with grandma.  I was right.  We came in and they were having a blast picking out ornaments to place on the tree.

Our evening ended with Jennifer and Spencer preparing a nice dinner and then our reading of Luke Chapter 2.  Everyone opened one gift, and then we retired to wait for Santa to visit.

Empty Nester Marriage

Empty Nester Marriage

When you think of an empty nester marriage do you think of two people getting on each other’s nerves?  Or, do you think of two people who get to spend their time together when they want?  I tend to think of the latter.

Being empty nesters Elizabethe and I enjoy spending time together.  At the same time, we enjoy visits from family as it does get lonely (as a couple).

So, this morning, we laid in bed laughing at the thought of what has transpired this weekend.  We, an empty nester couple, having taken in my daughter’s family of four, were laughing about their being gone for the weekend and us enjoying a quiet morning in bed.

And, if my daughter is reading this, we LOVE having you, your husband and two children around.  We just love it.   However, we found the lack of a knock on the door this morning kind of amusing from the sense that it brought us back to the days when children were at home and parents long for that weekend get-away.  So, in an odd sense, we enjoyed the weekend alone.

We are also missing our grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law.  When the move out into their own house, we will miss them.  We are also glad they that will live so close.

Today was an office-bound day processing images from the workshop.  I’ve discovered my web site will only allow a certain number of files in an upload session.  As a result of not knowing this, I had to go back and find out which files copied and which ones did not.

There was also a small order to process and somehow, Java got all confused.  I attempted to reinstall the latest Java, but it still didn’t work and so a reboot interrupted my uploading.  It made for a long afternoon.

This guy calls asking, “May I talk to the person in charge of your credit card processing?”

I abruptly said, “No you may not.”

I’m not sure why I haven’t thought about this in the past.  It worked brilliantly.  The guy was speechless as he said, “Uh… okay.”

I’ll have to remember that for future telemarketing callers.

Movie RED

We started the day off with a surprise visit to Amber’s work. She was quite surprised to see us. She introduced us to her boss and her boss’ boss. It was a nice place to visit.

After that I dropped Elizabethe off at Becky’s house. I met up with Rebecca and Chris and we went to lunch.

We then went and picked up Elizabethe and we went to watch the movie RED. I highly recommend this movie. It is extremely funny. Mary-Louise Parker is a riot in this movie. I haven’t laughed that hard at a movie in ages. Hollywood CAN make funny movies that are clean.

After the movie Elizabethe and I did some shopping. We went to emergency essentials, Deseret books, and Michael’s. We ran into a returned missionary, Elder Murphy, who served in Palmyra. It was nice seeing him.

After that we came over to Mark’s house. Amber later joined us with Brianna. We had fun singing Christmas songs, letting girls open their presents and just visiting.

Sunday with Amber

Elizabeth and I slept in this morning. We went to church with Amber in the afternoon. She attends a singles ward.

Amber addressed the Temple Prep Class about her experience attending the temple for the first time. It was a sweet experience.

After church they had a luncheon so we stuck around for that.
