Spring Stake Conference 2017
Spring Stake Conference 2017 is today. I am not the organist so I get to sit with Elizabethe today.
Several people were asked to share impromptu testimonies. They were all good. The fact that people bore testimony is evidence their being asked was inspired.
A Day Off
It’s unbelievable how many church members see stake conference as a day off. I recall one member saying, “I’m going skiing for a couple of days. We have stake conference so that gives me another day on the slopes.”
Because it is stake conference that means you can break the sabbath?
Elizabethe convinced me to make chicken stew for dinner. Why not. I threw it in the crock pot and that’s 80% of the work.
I also made brownies for dessert. If anyone’s had my brownies, you know they are the best. After the elders left there were two servings left — two from a 9×13″ pan. Hence, they were that good.
A can of pop-n-fresh rolls made another easy fix. I really didn’t do a lot to fix dinner tonight.
Oh, and Elizabethe made a salad.
I almost forgot about my public affairs meeting. I looked at my watch. It was 6:52 p.m. Panic set in as I thought, “Oh, shoot. I have a meeting in 8 minutes.”
I made it just as it was starting. But, I walked in the door with 3 other people. If you’re going to be late, you might as well be late as a group… right?
We looked at the new comparative religions document. When they pulled up the page on Judaism, the picture at the top was one of mine. I started to laugh. It was a picture of Doug Ellsworth at the Western Wall wearing a yarmulke.
I also noticed the picture of the Kirtland Temple was one of mine too.
