When you’re in business for yourself, you often run in to people who make an appointment and then fail to show. For the mansion, we solve this by requiring pre-payment. In the studio, I do require pre-payment for sessions and events. I think I need to start doing that for people who just want to come over and meet and talk about prices. Or, at least take a credit card and tell them they will be charged if they fail to show. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it makes you feel violated.
Speaking of the mansion, we replaced all the windows in the dormer suite. The cranks on the previous ones kept breaking and when they removed them, we discovered they had been installed wrong. The new ones look great and the contractor did an excellent job.
